Title: Ar-i-zo-na here I come
Post by: Patio Cook#1 on November 28, 2012, 04:46:23 PM
I've never been bothered by winter.
The mistress hates it.
So this year, to keep peace, I've rented a condo for two weeks in Arizona (Mesa).
Looking at the first two weeks of February.
In the past, we've hit Flagstaff/Grand Canyon/Boulder Dam on a Vegas side trip.
We been to Sedona (nice) and have seen the "crater".
So, now I need some advice on what to see/what to do/where to eat in the Phoenix-Mesa area.
Bring it on.
Let's talk Ar-i-zo-na!

it's a long day but I understand the place "Li'l Abner's Steak House" in the Tucson area has had the fire going in the pit without interruption since the 40's.

If you want great (but a bit spicy for some) Mexican food in Mesa (or at their other two or three locations), eat at Los Dos Molinos.

Patio Cook#1, if your talking bbq, I've never had great bbq in Phoenix, but in Scottsdale, there is a place called Scottsdale BBQ Company on McDonald Dr. It has very good beef, pork, and chicken. The sides are all excellent. Be sure to try the banana pudding for dessert. Turtle is correct about Los Dos Molinos Mexican food. I've been to the one in Phoenix and the one in Mesa. Not exactly Tex-Mex (my personal favorite), but very good and very spicy. Wash it down with a great homemade margarita. In Mesa, I think that it is on Alma School Rd.
