I just got off the phone and have scheduled this year's Gathering for the week of September 22 through September 28. This is the fourth annual one of these. The way it works is folks can come up anytime they want during that week. Usually, the main times are Friday, Saturday, and folks leave Sunday; however, you can come anytime you want and leave when you want.
Just a few highlights. Details and pictures are available at previous posts on the Gathering and I'll publish some more as we get closer.
--Sleeping facilities are there for up to about 100 folks. Just bring sleeping bag and toilet articles...maybe changing of underwear for some of you.
--You can pitch a tent, bring you travel trailer, or motor home if you want. There are hookups and a dump station.
--It ain't gonna cost you anything.
--Bring your own food, but there is always plenty so if you can't that is no problem.
--We are on the lake if you have a boat and want to bring it.
--There are grocery stores, WalMart, and Academy Sports withing 18 miles. A Cabels and Costco within about 25 miles.
--Excellent cooking facilites with big kitchen and dining area.

Really looking forward to it Dee. For the new members this is a great week or weekend get away. You get to meet Dee in person and the rest of the gang. Please make a point to be there, Pam is going to make gravy and biscuits at some point and that alone is worth the drive ;)
I'll be there along with many others, don't be shy show up fun times had by all!!!
It's a family gathering without all the fuss and cuss ;)

What Tommy said, X2!! I guess it is time to start thinking about what "specialty" I will have to work on for this years Gathering. One thing for sure, I will have the fixings for some of my Gourmet SOS.

Dee..I want my same cabin again, please..I have to tell Donna already so she can make it this year. Don't forget to bomb and I will clean up the kitchen..now what can I make? Looks like I been volunteered for sausage gravy and biscuits...and I can handle that. I will be making fresh bread everyday and some Yorkshire puddings too, and whatever else I can think of. Any suggestions? Can't wait to see everyone again. Family reunion with out the family and drama, it's the best.

I have to ask my wife if I can fly in. art, can you pick me up at the airport again. not making any promises about showing up but would love to me ya'll. and I really do have to see if tim's legs really are that white? the main reason I'm coming it to have some of pam's biscuits and gravy. would love to meet ya'll with a night of maybe a crown or two. ;)

I got dibs on making the sausage for the Gravy at least one morning this year (so I can eat it too)! I am also thinking of doing some Jerk Pork and/or chicken along with some Conch Fritters.
If you haven't attended, let me tell you the area is absolutely beautiful, and you cannot beat the company of folks who will be there!
The ONLY scary part for us last year was when we arrived about midnight. We'd been seeing dear & creatures as we drove along the dark roads. Then when we pulled into the campground we saw the most hideous thing imaginable in our headlights... We screamed, slammed on our brakes and then sighed in relief when we realized it was just Tim's legs! ??? ::)

Cabins are free but first ones there get'em The upper deck where Dee, myself and other stay is very good plus you get to hear Tim Dee someone snore you to sleep ;) :D :D :D

Oh heck yes I will be there! Already have my vacation in September set for that week! I know I will be bringing
at least one, possibly two cookers. Looking forward to the "family reunion"!

We can definitely make some arrangements for picking you up. We'll talk later about where is the best and least expensive way to get here. Might be worth watching the Southwest specials that come up all the time. Stay in touch. If I see anything, I'll let you know.

Dee, those dates are good for me. I can't wait to get there and see all my friends and meet some new friends. Dee, save that little piece of ground for me. Have you heard if the campground took as big of a hit from the ice storm as you did?

RAD..I don't think they have a web site. There a reposted pics on this site and videos, that should tell you everything ya need or ask anyone. Very easy to get to also. .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

I always bring Febreeze and Lysol for the cabins. they are shut up so need a lil help. there are 10 bunks in each side of the cabin and 2 sides, so there is plenty of room. 2 cabins so they sleep 40, I take a sleeping bag, just in case and have used it and pillow and bankie. There is room upstairs with the guys too. The bunks have 4-5 inches of foam for comfort. I sleep like a baby there. Outside flush potties and a shower for guys and girls. Very convenient. .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Free to stay, nothing to reserve just show up and have a great time! Now if you want a cabin you will need to get wit Dee about those, but the loft is open for guys and gals . Each has a side of the building

I went to the first one, over and back in one day. It was 4 1/2 hours over and over 6 hours back due to construction on I20. Drive was not fun but for friends and fellowship was worth it all.

Time booked off work.. Gonna watch flight prices. Pretty cheap if I fly out of Buffalo.. I'm stoked for this. May not be able to bring much with me because of customs but I will try to sneak some good Canadian Whiskey to share.

While the "Official Policy" is no drinking allowed since it is a church camp, we can imbibe off campus, as it were. And we have. As long as Dee looks the other way, or joins us, and we don't get carried away, we "might be able to sneak" a drink or three around the camp fire, or closer to the kitchen, as it were.

Dee goes to a lot of trouble to acquire this place for us at no cost to get together. No alcohol on church property. If you just have to, keep it out of sight and please don't throw your empties in the trash or we won't be able to come back. There is a pub not far away.
