Fall Gathering 2014 - It has Begun! UPDATED 9/27/2014

I want to thank everyone for the kind comments but all I did was open the gate and say "Y'all come on in!"

I can't say enough about how I really appreciate the effort in time and expense that the folks made to get here. I know it's not easy and was certainly a financial strain for some.  I don't have the vocabulary or ability to put into words how much your attendance meant.  Anything I do pales in comparison to what y'all did. 

The quality of people was outstanding and that always makes such a great Gathering.

The support given by RecTec, Amazn Smokers, and Cooking Pellets was fantastic.  They went way, way beyond what was asked.  Please, please, send them an email and thank them and support them by buying their products.

We have already did some talking about what to do for next year. When Brad had his  restaurant he cooked a fabulous Wild Boar Ragout and he has agreed to do that next year on the RecTec.  Terry is going to bring his La Cha Chia (or however you spell that aluminum lined plywood box) and we'll do a whole  hog in it.

  There is some talk about having people tell what they want to cook and maybe have a cook off or something like that.  That's something we'll all look at.  My experience has been trying to organize this herd of cats ain't easy but I guess it can be done.

We'll do it next year around the same time.  It may vary a week or so but we'll do it again.

Dee, next years Gathering will be the 5th annual Gathering. I believe it will be special with Brad's wild boar ragout and the la chia pet whole hog. A few throw downs and it will be a fitting 5th anniversary celebration. I can't wait until we can do it again next year.

I would like to send a special Thank you to all my boys, you all know who you are...all of you. Thanks for being so kind and helpful. Didn't meet anyone new members, but really like Chris (tlg) son and John, High on smoke) son. Very nice polite young men. Welcome back Jan, Dave and Barney..it was good to see you again. The gathering was fabulous for me, I made a few things the boys liked and did tons of dishes. We got'r done, and can't wait until the 5th Gathering. I promised a video of the Gathering and here it is. I didn't capture every moment but this is an example of the fun and cameraderie we experienced over the course of the week. Just simply a diary of what happened in the woods at Clark's Hill Lakes with a bunch of outdoor cooking friends on this forum. Hope that you enjoy it. And for the person that threatened to sue me if she appeared in the video, I decided to take my lumps because she is an integral part of this Gathering and we couldn't leave her out.
