Yet ANOTHER way to grill...
« Reply #-1 on: April 13, 2015, 05:14:07 PM »
Hey Y'all,
I've been slowed down by a hernia for the past 2 -3 weeks...going to see a surgeon on Thursday to schedule a repair.

I ordered a new grill from Academic Sports and received it Friday.  On Saturday, a couple of friends came over and assembled it for me.

Here's a link to the page I ordered from...this is ONLY posted so that you can see what the grill is like.
http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/rivergrille-asador-charcoal-grill/pid-1009931

With all the rain we are having, I don't know when I'll get out there to season it and start cookin'...it does not have a rotisserie...instead, the grates are raised and lowered.  Kinda like the Santa Maria style.
I was really pleased with the 840 sq inch cookin' surface - stainless steel grates.

The manufacturer discontinued this style so there only a few left.  I think they were losing money on this grill because it is priced way low IMHO.

Anyway, when I recover from the "plumbing repair", I hope to give it a workout this summer.

just sayin...

Hey Jaxon,

I am sorry to hear about your hernia - I had one a few years ago - I can't imagine going 2 or 3 weeks - I didn't last 2 days! Dang that hurt!

I like your new grill - have always wanted one like that and look forward to hearing about and seeing your cooks. Hope you are back on your feet soon and feeling better.

All the best, my friend,

David

Sorry to hear about you himnea ( well....just seems that "hernia" sounds girlie - and we know you are a man cut in the pattern of John Wayne. ;) ;D)

And I think you are going to love cooking on that asador! It is the Santa Maria type grill for sure. Get yourself some red oak for cooking, sand you will get close to the traditional flavor of Cali-Mex grilling.

Godspeed on your recovery-

That looks dangerous!

Whatever you do, DON'T COOK ON IT!  I'LL SAVE YOU!

I'll be right over to remove it.

(My Nigerian business partner says to keep sending these messages out.)

My best to you, Jaxon.  Here's hoping you heal fast.

Jackson, hate to hear about your hernia, but that's a sweet looking grill.  It reminds me of an open pit style BBQ.
