Don't scoff...
« Reply #-1 on: April 30, 2014, 06:27:04 PM »
Saw a great story om Food Network the other nite - Bizarre Foods America.  I am all about new, innovative, outside-the-box thinking and this certainly qualifies.

There are researchers working now (with major private funding) and they have developed a product from plants that measures and cooks and ALMOST taste like eggs.  One of the products they have begun marketing is a mayonnaise made without REAL eggs.  What is the significance of this?  How about lower cholesterol and reduced health risk for those who can't DO eggs? This is just the beginning for them.

PLUS...their idea is to make products available at a lower cost - hoping to be able to provide more food for more people around the world.

I will not be fielding questions until I have done more searching for myself

Interesting and smart!  Almost all the corn (maize) grown in the U.S. anymore is GMO (thanks to Monsanto and Con-Agra).  In fact farmers in the U.S are basically not allowed to keep their own seed corn anymore, or they get sued. Monsanto claims that, "cross pollination from older breeds contaminates their GMO crops."

I always wonder, well doesn't that go both ways? Does the wind only ever blow onto a farm raising GMO corn?
