If I was in the market for new cast iron I would give this a try. We still cook on our up to 100 year old Griswold and Wagners that are all smooth as a baby's bottom.

The only difference between this one and a Lodge is the price and the smooth bottom. I took an electric hand drill with a heavy wire round brush attached and an hour later my lodge was quite smooth. I was covered in black dust from head to toe but it was worth it. Then 6 coats of coconut oil later it was slippery and non-stick. When It came out of the oven it turned a dark golden color which looks beautiful.
