Went by the butcher shop to pick up my tri-tips tonight and they couldn't find them. All was OK, as they gave me two from the freezer. While there I picked up a T-Bone. Brought it home and hung it with two cobs of sweet corn (soaked them this time). I think the corn picked up a little bit of smoky flavor.
And the T-Bone was outstanding. I split it with my daughter.

Steak and corn look really good!

The steak looks outstanding!
How long did you hang it for?
-
I probably hung it for an hour. I ended up rushing it, as I meant to cook it when I got home, but soon realized I was going to have to mow the yard first. When I finished mowing, a storm was setting in, which caused me to rush things. I was also a little short on the charcoal, as I usually fill the basket, even when doing a smaller cook like this.
As always, the coals were perfect for cooking after I was already done. :-)
My guess is that if the coals had been farther along when I started, it would have taken 30-40 minutes.

Nice cook, Grossie. That steak looks perfectly cooked just the way I like, and I love the smell of sweet corn roasting over a pit of charcoal.

grossie, that is a good looking steak.
