Title: Pulled Lamb
Post by: jani80k on July 06, 2014, 02:20:49 PM
The 6 lb lamb shoulder was cut by the butcher to make it easier to handle. He even cut a hole for the hook to hang the meat (3rd pic). I applied a wet rub of thyme, rosemary and garlic as well as salt and let it marinate for 24 hrs. I then hung the leg inside the PBC for 1.5 hrs, cut it in half, put it in a tray with 4 fl oz of red wine and covered it with tin foil. After another 2.5 hrs it was time to pull. The cook took 4 hours in total.  We had the lamb with some peppermint yoghurt mix as well as some self baked bread.
The PBC and my beech wood charcoal briquettes now seem to be getting along quite nicely  :)

I would be all over that, but there is no way that my wife would let me do pulled lamb.

Thanks for the comments. Guys, I really have to say that the PBC is a great cooker that is worth every penny. The ease of use, the short cooking times and the great taste it produces (even without smoke wood) is nothing short of amazing. I am totally happy to have discovered this cooker via these forums.

Very nice job Jani! I love lamb, but have never had pulled lamb. After seeing yours I must have now! I would think with your yogurt sauce and homemade bread you and your company had a wonderful feast!  :P

That looks really good!!  I have tried pulled pork, pulled beef and pulled goat, but not pulled lamb.  I will need to find a good looking lamb shoulder.

It is the same in my part of town. Pork is by far the most common meat around here, followed by chicken and beef. Close to no lamb available (and if it's available, the quality is below average). But when I go to the muslim quarter the situation is different - no pork but great lamb and beef. I love to go shopping there for meat and spices if time allows. For the 6 lb lamb shoulder with front shank attached I paid 17 Euros which is the equivalent of around 23 dollars.
