Y'all, this cook lasted about 4 hours...the video lasts about 4 minutes. It may get noticed by America's Funniest Videos or Bloopers & Bleeps.
I'm just tryin' to show how the cook went today and how I used the fire butler with the hibachi / heat deflector.
The foil DID catch the drippings and they were not an issue - cleanup was easy and I wiped it down with some canola oil for seasoning.
I STILL don't focus on that "cutsie" presentation at the end because I'm ready to finish the video and eat. The ribs were tender as my heart and had the flavor I usually get when I use the offset smoker - no overpowering smoke, just a sweet little "kiss".
Oh, and B T W, when I took the ribs off, I removed the hibachi and poked the coals down, and they kept going strong. After supper, I went out and closed the vents and gave up trying to time it. They were still going at 240* after 6 1/2 hours.
Here it is:

BEAUTIFUL ribs Jack!!!

Those bones look good. What did you have the bottom vents set at Jack?

Awesome looking ribs Jack!

Top vents open, bottom vents about 1/4 open.
I had to make slight adjustments from time to time, but most of the cook I was idle.
B T W, I didn't put it in the video, but after taking the shot of the ribs, I brushed on some sauce and put 'em back on the grill.

They look really good buddy. I will admit that I wasn't impressed with the fire butler at first but your starting to change my mind partner. I love my weber kettles. This would would be real good with my 26 kettle.
-
Dang it, Jack.... you sold me on Sous Vide, now you are getting me on the Fire Butler... yikes! Another excellent video, btw....
-
If those had been as tender as your heart, they would have been looking like they were ready for Kimmie. Dee

The ribs look great Jack!
I only have a junior Joe right now but when I step up to a larger kettle I might just get one.

I'm afraid that I am probably coming across as a "salesman" for F B. I apologize for that.
It's just that I get pretty excited when I get something new that I like, and I want to share my experience with others.
I haven't met Troy - only spoken with him phonically (on the phone) and he has this "thing" he invented that works well but he has no way to tell people about it. It works well for me, so I'm letting people know it's out there and you may want to use it, too.
I get no compensation other than knowing I'm helping this young man get his new business recognized in some small way.

Jaxon,
You did an outstanding job with the video and the cooking. Pretty soon you will be calling Brother Sparky out for a rib cook-off.
What are you cooking on your next video?

Thanx Art...
I have an idea I want to try with the F B. It is completely out of the box and I may get in trouble if I post it. We'll see.
-
I know you are NOT a salesman for F B anymore than you were for Sous Vide - BUT your excitement and enthusiasm is catchy, and you are right more than wrong... ;) ;D
-
Ribs look great.

Have to be honest, I was in the camp w/Sparky. You're doin' a good job, Jack, of convincing several of us to take the plunge.
Nice looking ribs, too.

Jack,
You mat not be a salesman for the Fire Butler but I can tell you what your doing means the world to someone that has had many many long days and nights & many sleepless nights into a product trying desperately to perfect it on limited time & limited funds. If that's the first set of ribs you cooked on it I can only imagine what they're gonna look like after a few more cooks. They must have looked amazing after you glazed them! Check your mailbox in a few days I'll be sending you some Fire Butler appareal. Thanks so much! Remember I'm only a phone call away for any questions. Text or email me your shirt size and anyone else shirt size you'd like to give a shirt too.
