Hey Everyone!
I have seen posts on here previously about smoking a Tri Tip like a brisket. I think some here call it "Trisket". I tried it for the first time yesterday and the results were outstanding. I was very impressed with the flavor and the moisture content of the finished product. I smoked this for two hours at 170 degrees then went up to 225 degrees. I wrapped it in foil when it hit 175 Internal Temp because we were getting hungry. I pulled it when the IT hit 202 degrees and let it rest for 20 mins. Total time of the cook was around 7 hours. I will definitely be making this again.

Nice work. I made one last weekend. I do it almost as often as brisket since I get tri for around $4 a lb and have pretty much no trimming and of course no hard fat to waste.

Outstanding! :)

I actually got the recipe out of a Weber cookbook. Where it is cooked on a 18 inch WSM. we cook a majority of our Tri tips this way. Yours looks real good.

I've got to try this.
What flavor smoke did you use, Mesquite??

I had maybe 60 mins of Mesquite in the bottom of the hopper from my previous brisket cook so I just filled it up with solid Hickory (Lumberjack Pellets). It was a great combo.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I had no idea when I joined this forum as a newbie with my pellet grill that I would pick up so many incredible ideas from a such a great group of people. This forum has kept my pellet smoker way busier than it ever would have been without finding this site.
Thanks for all of the comments and ideas - so much more to explore and try.

I got a pellet grill for Christmas. Have been looking for ideas of what to cook on it. "Trisket" just jumped to the top of the list. Nice cook. Thanks for sharing.
