Title: Wheels/Casters
Post by: frankan9 on May 04, 2018, 09:05:19 AM
I haven't transported my 2 star further than my patio , but I'm looking for some way to upgrade the wheels to something a little more robust. It seems like the oem casters can't take rolling over pavers without bending .I've straightened them a few times already, just waiting for one to snap off. Has anyone come up with a suitable replacement?

Wow, that surprises me a little. My 2 star is a recent model and the caster appear to be bolted on very well and sturdy. Not saying they couldn't bend but if they do simply by rolling over pavers I would suggest calling MAK and ask for some guidance. I'm sure they would like to know so if there is a problem they can address it. A couple of reasons I chose a MAK is customer support and quality of build. Good luck getting this resolved and please do keep the rest of us MAK owners informed.

I haven't contacted Mak yet because i was able to straighten the casters. But even a direct replacement would still be a 3/8"x16 bolt. I think I need to come up with a better solution to mount a wider/ taller caster. The thin wheels catch in the spaces between the pavers.I don't think a 3/8" diameter bolt is strong enough.

Franken9.....call Dennis Ogg@MAK (503) 623-1234. If your grill is under 3 years old, MAK will warranty the caster that got bent. Last year MAK did change casters to a better type, and hasn't had many issues with them.
