My buddy Derrick Riches writes a little column about outdoor cooking and sometimes a couple folks will vote on different cookers just to kinda keep him thinking he's got something goin on. Will you humor him with a vote for one of your choice between these Pellet Grills?
- Green Mountain Grill - Daniel Boone
- Hearthland Products - Memphis Pro
- MAK 2-Star General
- Rec Tec Wood Pellet Grill
- Yoder Smokers YS640 Pellet Smoker
Here's the link to vote...

See? Thass what I'm talking about! The BBQ community is generous and friendly and so helpful to the new fellas. Derrick will appreciate the encouragement ... 8)

Sparky - she is something else! And they really didn't take much time or effort. She's really good that way.

And it's a good thing; she needs all the time and effort she can muster just to keep you in line.

I'd vote but I don't have a peppet pooper Yet ;)
-
I voted for the one I wanted to get but didnt. Hint, its winning right now. ;)
-
I voted... But I must tell you it was a hard vote because all the grills listed are top notch. But I voted by feel if that makes sence. I went with the Rec-Tec because I used one at the cookout in GA and really like it
I used the Yoder that Tim brought but something about the Rec-Tec that fit my way of way of thinking (may be wrong but that's me)
-
I find it odd that they did not include the Blaz'n Grill in that list. They are among the promising newcomers like Yoder and Rec-Tec.

SS - this is a tie-breaker vote as all of these finished in a dead heat.

Tommy..I thought the same thing..tried both of them but like the rec tec..Was Tim's yoder a pellet too? I made the pizza on the yoder and it did well. Pam .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

X2. Watching from the sidelines on this one. ;)

I happen to have a Yoder and a Rec Tec on my patio at the moment and I just have a feeling the Rec Tec will be my go to pit...........
-
Smoke how well does it sear???
The yoder works great for searing, ( I played with Tim's ) but only smoked on rec-tec?
-
I forgot to use my grill grates but without them it doesn't sear at all....haven't tried grilling on the Yoder as of yet.....

Naturally I'm late. I'm almost always behind the curve.
I won't specifically mention the brand but it's curious that an excellent pellet unit was not on the list. That indicates to me that the poll's author doesn't know much about pellet units, so it makes me wonder if he often writes about things he knows little about.
In this kind of voting, don't we usually vote for the brand we know the best? Typically, that would be the one we own or the one we had an opportunity to use—perhaps only once. Not many of us have cooked an appreciable amount on all pellet units. Or do we base our votes on what we've read? I that case we're just casting the author's vote again.
I don't see how a popularity vote like this has any relevance when discussing quality or usability. In fact, I don't see how a popularity vote like this has any merit at all.
