That looks pretty good. Pardon the newbie question, but what cut of beef is the "tri tip"?
-
Great looking tri-tip Randy, You definitely need to post that recipe for the Syracuse salt potatoes, I tried them once from your recipe and there Awesome !!

From what I know you either have them where you live or you don't. The CA people are blessed with them. We can get them at Costco here in Minnesota.
I believe they are part of the sirloin. They are excellent.
If one of the instigators around here who shall be nameless (Muebe) mentions "Trisket", pay him no never mind . ;D

Fantastic tri tip!
-
That is a juicy looking tri-tip!

Don't stress over the amount of salt. Trust the me on this one. Rinse the pot before you melt the butter if you wish.
If those little taters weren't so $$$ we would have it more often.
There have NEVER been any left over here. Ever.

Boy Bent. That is a leap of faith kind of recipe. Thanks!

Here's a link to an excellent description of a Tri-Tip Roast (http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/tritip1.html) ... Pay close attention to the video on how to carve a Tri-Tip roast because the grain of the meat runs in a couple of different directions.
