Herman's Hamburger Steak ala Hub...with a twist
« Reply #-1 on: June 16, 2012, 02:15:38 PM »
Hub posted this recipe last week that he got from Herman's Cafe and I just have to do it.....so I am today  ;D

So far I am following the recipe just like Hub says to do......used L&P thick wooster

Now the twist:
Cheese Please!!

Another twist!!!!  Sprinkled some of T's new Magic Meat Dust he so generously gave out free on top of the sealed patties!!

Gonna cook em later on a new grill my oldest boy bought last week at Wal-Mart. It is a Kingsford Wagon Grill. Wal-mart sells it for 98 dollars-no holler but if you opened up a Wal-Mart credit card (what self-respected Red-neck could go on without one??  :D) you get 20.00 off your first purchase so he scored on the grill for 78.00!!
Solid grill....oh sure my charcoal grate on my big grill weighs more than this whole grill put together but for the casual griller or for something to use during the week for a hot dog cook this little baby will do the trick and it is quite solid!! Has an adjustable grate and even a can opener!! It is a frickin bargain!!!! Takes about -2- hours to build but you can get free assembly at Wal-mart!! So if my kids by the grills, Smoochy and me don't get in hot water..... 8)

Catch everyone at the grill this afternoon!!

Adjustable grate, ash catch pan that slides out for easy dumping... it looks like a well thought out little grill.

Staying tuned for the burgers...

All-right...got em cooked up.

Great recipe Hub...thanks for sharing....this will be a big part of my cooking rotation!!

T...your rub held up very well under high heat grilling....I used 70/30 ground beef and was fighting the flames a bit and the rub did good.  Gonna try it tomorrow on some beef ribs...........

Man, does that burger look good!

That grill held a dozen of those burgers. Not bad at all.

Looks nice SMoke - and we all KNOW how much you needed another grill... ;)

On the Magic Meat Rub.....It works best as a marinade.

Example: For steaks and Tri-Tips -  1/2 cup canola oil, 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar and 3 or 4 Tbs. of rub. Whip it in the blender at high speed - pour into bag with steak - seal and place in fridge. @-3 hours for steaks of average thickness up to 2''. For Tri-Tip allow 5-6 hours marinade time.

This makes a HUGE difference in the flavors....

Was gonna mention the evils of 70/30 ground beef but then I remembered it was a first cook and seasoning process. Good looking burgers

I found out the evils right quick of 70/30 real quickly. I had to remove the burgers and fire up my smoker/grill.
Just too many flames!!
Too add insult to injury my two boys were out there when it happened and they don't want me using their grill anymore :-[

Burgers did come out good though!! I was gonna save ya one Herman but they all got gobbled up!! ::)

I duplicated your offering last night with the 4 burner RED.  I didn't make individual patties but took 1.5 lb of chuck and made into a large patty.  Topped with grilled onion and garlic.  Then the cheese and the other top.  Kind of like a mini meat loaf but really not.  Seasoned and grilled.  It was so good.  Thanks for the idea! It was so good and juicy and full of flavor....  Phil
