Guess Where We Spent Three Days?
« Reply #-1 on: February 15, 2015, 03:43:08 PM »
We spent three days indulging (sometimes over indulging) in the great Swiss traditions of beer brewing, wine and cheese making, cooking, baking, sausage making, and music! The brewery here is rated amongst the world's best, and more cheese is made in Green County than any other area of North America, not a good place for a DIET!  ::)

I remember back on th 40's, 50's and 60's most every town in Wisconsin had their own brewery.
Most were close down becasue of the large brewery price busting.
This brewery was in the town of 1200 I grew up in back in the day.

I am going to see if I can find some Glarus Brewery Beer.

Savannah I go thru that area on my yearly trek up to Elkhart Lake and Road America for a week of camping, watching the races and trying to keep order around the campfire! Beautiful area for sure! I miss the days you describe when most towns had a brewery. Ours in Peru,IL was Star Union Brewery.
Oh sadly New Glarus sells NO beer outside of Wisconsin!

My wife and I visited New Glarus a number of years ago.  We really liked the town.  Also loved the food.

Use to go to  Road America also and was attempting to race there when my Dad pulled the plug on sponsoring my racing career.
He said something like "this is racing not a demolition derby so you are done wreaking my race cars."
I did race twice at Lynndale Farms Raceway before it closed.

My family still lives in WI and we travel up there in the summer.  We like to spend the last night of the trip
a couple of hours from Slinger so are refreshed when we get there.  Will check out New Glarus, WI.

drholly you would not recognize Racine anymore unless you just left the area.

drholly you would not recognize Racine anymore unless you just left the area.

It's been at least 10 years, so I suspect you are right. There was a time that everything I new was in relationship to the Yardarm. Wonder if it is still there.
