Grilled chicken thighs
« Reply #-1 on: February 15, 2015, 09:53:55 PM »
Remember when you were just starting to grill and your grilled chicken would always turn into a towering inferno? Well I sure do. Those days are over, thankfully.

Layed a even amount of coals in the PK Grill and used their little half rack to raise the thighs higher above the coals...

Lots of smoke...but no flames...even with all vents open (which I did for crispy skin) the PK does not allow enough air to support a flame

Smoke did it again  8)

My chicken looks much better next to Wendy's twice baked loaded smashed taters (she promises to share the recipe) topped with her homemade ranch dressing

Wendy made me a salad  >:(......with bacon and pepperoni added  8) 8) 8) 8)

That oughta work on the Weber, too, with adjusted airflow.

I'm a thigh man and appreciate crispy skin on grilled chicken.

I used to have a rough time with chicken over the coals in my Webers. I was having good success "circling the wagons" with charcoal in the center and the chicken placed around the outskirts of the cooking grate.....the skin comes out crispy as well  :)

It sure does help Pappy  :)   Even after all these years I still come up with the occasional clunker of a cook though  ???

Question...I'm new to my Weber, just got it last summer and I also have a vortex...could I set the charcoal in the vortex and do the same thing? Set it uside down and have radiant heat coming up the sides and an inferno to help crisp skin? Or the other way around? just askin. .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.
