Happy Birthdeay to me!
« Reply #-1 on: October 17, 2012, 05:08:19 PM »
Well technically my birthday is not until Sunday but my wife wanted me to get a grill for my birthday. I bought a Weber Performer at Academy where I work. With the employee discount it was not a bad deal. Of course it is supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow so not sure when I will get to fire it up, this weekend for sure.

Going back to where it all began on a Weber kettle.

Happy birthday ken, I wish i had $5 for every weber kettle I  pitched in the trash compactor when I  was a apartment maintenance geek. A guy only needs a couple and it seemed like atleast 2 or 3 people a month would leave there webers out on there balcony when they moved. No such thing as craigslist back then to get rid of them. Definately did not want to give them to other renters cause they leave them when they move out so they got squashed. Sad story but true

I will be 62 if I make it to Sunday. I got the basic black, just seems right. Not sure what the first cook will be, probably steaks or some big thick Duroc pork chops I have in the freezer, but will have some 2 hour BBQ Pit Boys ribs on it soon and I am going to take the plunge and cook my first ever tri tip as soon as I get used to temp control on it.

Already together, took advantage of the free assembly at Academy. The assembler works back in my receiving area and I watched and made sure he did it right.
