Got a box today
« Reply #-1 on: July 11, 2016, 08:15:54 PM »
Wife ordered me the Food Saver off of Amazon for $140.00. This is the first step to the water heater thing that most of you have. Soul vibe?  Kinda like " Spatchcocked" doesn't make much sense this terminology.  Lol

:D Nice Tom! You will love having a vacuum sealer.

And - that "Sous Vide" thing...it's French for "under vacuum". I am sure we will figure out a way to "Muricanize" it... ;) ;D Whatever we call it - it is incredible for what it does for a lot of foods.

If you are familiar with he old animated comedy series "King of the Hill"...think about how the character Boomhauer might say "American". ;D

It would be hard to survive without a VacPac.
So cook a lot and pack it up for later.

I love my Foodsavers! They are terrific. As a matter of fact, that reminds me that I have some brisket in the freezer ;) I know what I'm eatin' tonight!

How 'bout the "Zip & Dip" method?

It works...sort of....but if you have air in the bag, at least part of the bag will float. And - if the zip-lock bag leaks...you can ruin a meal...

No need to wait Tom! Check out the DSV from Dork Food. They are a sponsor of LTBBQ and have a thread section. If you have a plain knob activated crock pot, or turkey roaster - the DSV will control these - or any other heating element driven appliance that does not have a digital thermostat. And - it is LESS than the other units on the market. I own 3 different Sous Vide devices.
I prefer the DSV for it's versatility, and that I am using a crock pot or turkey roaster for parties- which is are insulated containers with handles that I don't have to make or modify. ;)
