? are you sure that metal is food save. The reason I'm asking is because years ago I was using either that or something similar to that on my offset smoker & someone warned me that when that heats-up it can off-gas small amounts of poison. Now that was years ago on either sizzleonthegrill or Bradley forum. If your not sure- maybe some others might chime in.

Nice video and mod Tom. But my concern is the same as slrpro02 about that metal being food safe. Personally, I think I would have looked for a rack that fits inside, something like the Phillips racks that you can do 2 levels. But you are one of the mod masters and I hope it works. My Brio has a small double rack that I can use if needed. Of course, I had to purchase it separately.  ;)

Ok, thanks for the concern, have used expanded steel as shelfs for years on other grills with no issues. This expanded steel from Home Depot is advertised on the box as being used for bbq's. I sanded the exterior on both sides and washed in soap and then put in the air fryer for 5 minutes at 400. There was no off gassing or smell of any sort. If this bothers you I am sorry but I wouldn't use it if I didn't know that it was safe. My professional life deals with stuff such as this on a private level and with OSHA. We can look a little further if you're all interested in the metalorgy of this product. But with all of the litigations these days you wouldn't be able to buy something from Home Depot that said BBQ on it with it not being safe or with out some sort of warning being posted. There was no warning posted.

Nope, doesn't bother me at all Tom. I was just concerned about the metal being safe. Didn't want to see you getting sick.  ;)

I'm glad it is safe. The stuff I was using years ago did not say that on there. You did a great job on the shelf.
