Hibachi

Heres some older pictures of my Hibachi that I did awhile back but it sure does bring back some good memories. I love beef and the wife has decided she no longer likes beef. Guess I need to take over shopping  :)

Great looking cook and plate! Makes me want to dust off the old hibachi. Thanks for the "memories". And, happy shopping... ;)

A lot of us got our start in barbeque via the humble hibachi.  I had one as a wedding gift.  Tried to use it in the kitchen on top of the stove in our little apartment.  Found out the vent hood over the stove didn't vent -- just blew smoke back in your face.  Had the good sense to move it to the walkway in front.  Cooked some good chicken before somebody stole it.

They are very well built and get very hot as its all cast iron. I was really craving a steak last night when I  posted. Its payday and the butcher is on the way home ;)

I need to look at the box, but I am pretty sure it is a USA made product. As far as I know the only cookware Lodge makes in China are their enameled products. They don't have the capability to enamel at their South Pitsburg, TN foundry. I have a few pieces of Chinese cast iron but I prefer USA, I don't know what metals they have melted down to make their iron over there and the castings on Chinese iron is usually pretty rough.

That's the one I have - works like a champ! Gets screaming hot - love doing small cooks on it or using it for "overflow" for large parties.

I've had one of these Lodge's for several years. A terrific little performer for just about anything that will fit on it.  I use mine frequently for teriyaki (thin sliced marinated ribeye) as well as the odd steak burger, etc.
