But this one was on life support. Not because it was worn out. Not because it failed to do it's job. But, because the owner of it ignored cleaning it out....
Look - NO MATTER what brand you prefer - if you don't cleanup the belly of your pit on occasion - THIS is what happens. ( Having to really bust your knuckles ONCE to cleanup a pit will make you think about using a drip pan to catch grease in the future....or at least it SHOULD for the thinking person

But, take heart - I am going to make this one as good as new. Seriously....I am going to bring it up to current standards and features. So, follow this thread if you like. I will be posting a LOT of pictures as we go thru this process.
WHY would I put this much effort into rebuilding an old MAK?
1. To demonstrate that they don't wear out. You have to willfully ignore a lot of common sense things to kill a MAK.
2. And to show how MAK does not exercise "pre-planned obsolescence" as I have seen with many manufacturers of various products.
