The Frozen Chosen
« Reply #-1 on: February 03, 2013, 10:43:32 AM »

Not as bad as it was last week...   Subzero windchills then.

So here are today's victims.   A 5 pound turkey breast boulder, and some boudin. (I've got some red and white beans going in the crockpot, with a spice mix from Bootsie's)

Fire in the hole..

In we go.

Running the pit at 250*.   The boudin was already cooked (poached), but I want it to pick up a nice smokey flavor.   I'll go out in a  hour to check it, and pry the foil off of that turkey log.

I rounded up my helper, and came back inside to warm up.

BBL..

After an hour, the foil pops right off.

Hit it with some of this stuffy.   Pretty tasty!

Boudin is picking up some color now. (crappy picture)

I'll give the boudin another hour, then bring it in to add to the beans I have cooking.

Looking mighty good there Squirt.  HOw often do your guard cats get a "sample" of what you are cooking?

Nice!

We've had a bevvy of gray (and fake Russian Blue) critters here.

Left to right, Boris (vanished), Natasha, and my namesake Squirt The Cat (RIP).

Natasha is all grown up now.

And Katy (short for Katja), took Boris' place helping out by the grills.

(she changes color like a Chameleon)

Gracie is the boss of them all.  So she thinks.

Gracie is cool.

Tobe, pic posted, was pulled from the gutter in the pouring rain when he was only a few weeks old by my youngest daughter about 10 years or so ago.

BOO-DAN!

Cooling off in the microwave (cat proof), then I'll chunk it up and toss into my bean pot.

Good looking cook. I had a Russion Blue that was the best and smartest cat I ever had. I miss that old girl.

I haven't made boudin in a long time but it is so, so good! I might just have to make up some soon!
