Your favorite rubs, seasonings and sauces?
« Reply #-1 on: April 19, 2013, 05:51:27 PM »
Hey all,

I'm about to embark on a venture of stocking up my supply cabinet.
I know there are a lot of different taste preferences out there but I figured I'd start a thread asking for some favorite rubs, seasonings and sauces for poultry, pork and beef.
I've used Zack's for a while but figured I'd try something new.
Three of my favorites are brisket, ribs and pork butts.

I'm the kind of guy who needs to try everything once so this can get expensive :))

Your favorite rubs, seasonings and sauces?
« on: April 19, 2013, 06:31:23 PM »
My family likes sweet rubs. John Henry line is great. Big Poppa Money rub is excellent as well. Simply Marvelous line is also excellent. Fine swine and bovine is the boss.

Had to send all my spicy ones to our good friend Smoke.

We have a terrible selection of rubs in Minnesota. So I buy all of mine on the Internet, and try and sneak them by my wife.

Good luck!

Besides Tims Savor spices which are all Awesome and you have a couple jars of that :) I like Oak ridge BBQ rubs. The Santa Maria blend is good on steaks. I see they have a new Brisket rub that sounds interesting. You can get sample pack of all there rubs for 5 bucks http://www.oakridgebbq.com/p/products.html .
Hey Tim is the Fine Swine and Bovine good on briskets?

I have my own pork and beef rubs that vary (a little) by how much of everything I throw in the container when I mix them up.  I have been known to use them on the opposite meat as well as fowl and whatever else I happen to be cooking.  As for sauce (and I am not typically a sauce guy), I normally throw together a combination that starts with a brand sauce and then gets doctored.  The brand sauce base is normally Sweet Baby Ray's because that is what my kids keep on hand for chicken nuggets and such.

On the way home from work I went to Cash and Carry on 112th and Parkland exit, They have full line of spices for cheap compared to grocery store prices. Maybe you could design your own rubs with a few jars of Basics. I picked up mustard seeds-$9.50 and Coriander-$10.50 :)

Two of my favorite homemades are Jan's Rub and Hubba Bubba BBQ sauce.   I also just found an excellent sauce named Williamson Brothers in Publix.  It's made in Marietta, GA and is one of the best available in the stores in my opinion.  Dee

Dee, Williamson Brothers has been the primary sauce I have been using for years. We stopped at one of their restaurants in GA last year and they sell pretty good BBQ too.
