freezing meat...
« Reply #-1 on: July 02, 2013, 02:20:29 PM »
I know a ridiculous question but I just don't know for sure...

Say I get a value pack of steak pork ribs chicken with more then 1 piece each can I freeze the rest? If so how do I go about doing it ie in foil plastic tuperware ect. Also how long should last?

I don't want to buy just one piece at a time for cost purposes and I don't usually cook it the next day if in a pack of two or more...

Thanks

When I was freezing my steak I wrapped each in plastic wrap then vacuum bag two to a bag.

Never a bad question here.  If I freeze meat I vacuum seal it so it will last a long time.   Never had any luck with "freezer bags" or things like it.

lf you dont have a foodsaver you can wrap in saran wrap then freezer paper or double wrap in freezer paper.

Here is what Pappy just got. It is similar to mine and I like it.

As for the bags someone will usually let everyone know when they come on sale to pick up on Amazon.

Yep - or Amazon.com

The best way to freeze food. I use mine a lot for saving fish when we are at the lake.

Ditto on the food saver.

I also like to season the meat before vac sealing ;)

Academy Sports has them also.  I buy the rolls rather than the bags.

A while back, the Butcher posted a great post on using butcher/freezer to freeze meat.. You may want to check it out  You can buy it at a restaurant supply house and is cheaper than a Food Saver.  It's the way meat and all was frozen before there was vacuum sealers..
