"Tim looks pretty good in his 10 gallon hat"  :) :)

you have never seen a Texan SOooooo GLAD to be home in the Mother Land

You have no idea... ;) ;D It was a trip that gave me back a sense of "self"...hard to explain I suppose. But, the shocker of the trip was my wife's reaction to the Hill Country and Fredricksburg in particular.
She proclaimed that we will be buying a ranch in the next few years in or very near Fredricksburg. To put that in perspective: The last time she said something like that was in reference to our move to the mountains of Western NC. I was working out of the country, and had given here a power of attorney for real estate dealings.
I came home to a new address..... :D :D :D

So - perhaps the prodigal son will return after all ;)....

Whenever I watch that segment, the one thing that stays with me is, there is some serious love put into that Que.

I get it. I look forward to visiting some day!

Tee we are looking at possible retirement moves and Western NC is in the mix along with NW GA and also the TX hill country. We have visited  NC and GA locations and as soon as Lana is up for some traveling we are going to hit TX.

Ken, I've had the good fortune of spending significant time in all three states.  Areas like Boone, NC are gorgeous and has good pork BBQ but no one wants to deal with snow and you can't find good Mexican food in the Carolinas (they seem to make their salsa with ketchup).  Georgia is beautiful and Atlanta is one of the most liveable big cities around but you've got state income tax, kudzu, and no consistent BBQ identity.

But the Hill Country of Texas ... you have beautiful sunsets, temperate weather, a thriving economy, KILLER Mexican food, and some of the finest brisket and sausage under the sun, moon and stars.

I think your decision is made clear.   ;)

One of the things  I really like about the Texans is their attitude.  They seem to have this attitude that they know what heaven is like because they are living in it.   Dee

I can neither confirm nor deny the veracity of your statement, Dee.  However, everything is bigger in Texas ... including our egos.   ;D
