He said he owns a patent on how the ribs are deboned.  The sharks were surprised that you could get a patent on a food product.

It's a real rack of ribs fully cooked and then deboned prior to being flash frozen and packaged.  2 minutes in the microwave ... all the sharks liked the taste.  Could be used for a quick and dirty sandwich when in a hurry.

It's not like a MacRib cause that's made up of a whole bunch of ground up parts, etc and then pressed into a shape that looks like ribs.  Read an article on the MacRib and I wouldn't feed it to my dog (if I had one)!

I watched the show last night.  Damon went for the deal because of the patent on the process of deboning the rib after it was cooked and the patent on packaging any meat product that has been deboned after it has been cooked.  No one has ever patented packaging meat after meat has been deboned!!!!!!!  Damon's intent is to license the patent.  This could have big big big bucks involved regarding the food packaging industry.  Just think, you are the CEO of a major meat processor that has been selling cooked meats that have been deboned and package them in plastic for years.  All of a sudden a lawyer knocks on the door and says......Where is my Licensing Royalty check?  Say what?  Shows them the patent and says, Sir I believe we have a case against you for patent infringement.  Bubba Baker the ex NFL football player is going to be laughing all the way to the bank on this.  He thought of a way to debone a rib after it was cooked and leave the meat untouched......fantastic....but the home run or should I say Touchdown was patenting the packaging of deboned meat.  Not just ribs but all deboned meat.  You want to package deboned meat?  Pay me a licensing fee!!!!  Don't make a never mind that you been doing it all these years.  My patent says I hold all rights to package deboned meat.  Baaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaa Cha Ching!

Enough ain't enough and too much is just about right.

Everyone that has been doing this for years will now move their operations over to Asia where they don't recognize or obey any US patent.
