The Aunt (92) I am taking care of has Central Air & a nice split system for one room......On a 95 degree day it goes out.......$4,850 for a new system......then they check the split system .......$2,800+ to replace that.    I buy her a room system so she can be cool ($316.00).....then my system goes down twice someone stole our safety switch around $300.......Next a new power supply  $300.00  & a week later the thing dies more big bucks.....$3,800 for a new system......I am driving home today & my car air dies

So if any of you are smart don't let me touch your AC system......all you can do in these times is laugh..... so tell me a good joke I need one.

A/C was an unaffordable luxury when I was a kid growing up in an old two story house in SD. I remember turning my pillow over constantly on those hot humid summer nights. One night I thought it would be a good idea to get my pillow nice and wet to keep me cool. Don't go there! I also remember trying to sleep in one of the little plastic pools. Dang near drowned.

Yea it sounds like you had to spend a pretty penny! Reminds me of when I started to work for Ford Mo. Co. in 1973 I bought this house to get closer to work, no central air. I had worked 90-12 hour days in a row. Labor day week-end it was in the 90's I had to beg for 1 day off. I took the family about 4 blocks away to stay in a Holiday in for the week-end, had air and a pool for the kids. A short but nice vacation! I now have central air thank God! Don

Tommy I am hoping it is just needs a little gas in the system because I just took it out on the highway & it worked again.   I will try it again tomorrow 

The funny/sad thing is I was just leaving my Aunts house to come back to our house when it put out hot air. It may just need a little charge but at that time I thought ....not again.


The good news as Mike said look at all the cash we will save over the next few years in energy savings.

At least my main grills are new


Life is good just enjoy it. That is what we do here.

I have to have my AC although there are days when I'm on site for several hours once I'm used to the heat it's really not that bad as long as there is a breeze. but remember I'm in Wisconsin
