Corned beef failure!!!
« Reply #-1 on: October 20, 2016, 06:46:49 PM »
Smokin' Pete made some super delicious looking corned beef he just posted: http://www.letstalkbbq.com/index.php?topic=18833.0;topicseen

What a coincidence!! We too were craving a nice low key comfort food of corned beef and cabbage just this very weekend!   Great minds, eh?

Weeeellllll......  Last week when we went grocery shopping, I didn't supervise James when I asked him to grab a few things for the cart.

So when the time came to get the corned beef set up for the crock pot, I realized he'd gotten PURPLE cabbage instead of the usual green. D'oh!
Well, I'd be darned if I was going to go back to the store for just one thing, so I said bugger it, we'll just do it with the purple.  How bad can it be?

Several hours later came up from working in the barn to this:  ??? ??? ???

This had to be by far the ugliest meal I have ever cooked!!

Looked like we'd cooked it in octopus ink!!!!

Tasted just fine, but... geez was that ever a mess to clean up!!!  Got a good chuckle out of it too at least!!

It would taste great anyway - and I am certain that if Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder were judging it..they would declare it beautiful! ;D

This could only be more fun if you'd put some of those blue potatoes in it!

After thinking about it ( yes...it is one of my "strengths" that I think AFTER I comment.... :D :D :D  )  I think it would make a great Irish Halloween dish! You could use the color in your favor that way...A new recipe! Seasonal favorite!

Gotta know how to spin it! ;) :D :D :D

LOL  you all are the best!!  I'll have to work on my 'spin' next time I mangle a meal! :) hehehe

I can see it now:

James:  What in the name of all things holy is this?
Me: It's for Halloween. Try some.
James: But what... It looks like...
Me: No, really, it's a special holiday recipe, you'll like it.
James: ..............
Me:  IT'S FESTIVE, DANGIT!!! QUIT THE YAPPING AND EAT YOUR HALLOWEEN IRISH BORSCHT!!!   There are starving boys and ghouls that would be thankful for it!!!   snicker snicker snicker
