Title: Homemade Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce
Post by: KJRsmoker on January 27, 2019, 03:39:49 PM
My wife likes Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce and isn't a fan of the homemade bbq sauce I usually make.  When I ran out of my sauce, I decided to make a different one.  I did some snooping on the Internet and found some faux Sweet Baby Ray's recipes.  Here is the one I tried.

1 1/2 cup ketchup
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup pineapple juice (or you can use apple cider vinegar)
1/4 cup water
2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 Tablespoon ground mustard
1 Tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons liquid smoke

I mixed all the ingredients together with a whisk then brought it to a boil on med/high heat then simmered for 5 minutes.  It tasted very similar to SBR's sauce according to my wife, although a little smokey.  Next time I'll either eliminate the liquid smoke or only add 1 tsp.

I'll have to try making that. Thanks for sharing.
Sweet Baby Ray's is V's sauce of choice.
