Title: Just like the Idea
Post by: CDN Smoker on November 02, 2014, 09:16:34 PM
My Wife and I were out for dinner at a local resturant.mone of the items was "Pot Roast".

The part I really liked was the "Popover Bread Bowel".

The meat was tender but way to salty.

Any idea how to make a bowel like that?

Looks delicious Drew!

Could that be an inverted large popover top?

That does look good!!! Don
Searched and this is the best I could find. There is a video that says you can do 3 diff. sizes of the bowls but only shows how to stuff them with diff. things. Don

POPOVER BOWL:

2 tbsp. salad oil
3 eggs
2/3 c. milk
1/2 tsp. crushed tarragon
1 clove garlic, peeled
2/3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt

About 30 minutes before serving, plan to have the popover bowl all baked. Place pie plate in 450 degree oven with the oil and garlic. After 10 minutes remove pie plate and take out garlic. While pan is hot, pour in batter made from the other ingredients. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes, reduce temperature to 350 degrees and continue baking for an additional 20 minutes. This will make a large puff with an indented center.

That's what it looks like to me (popover or Yorkshire pudding - whichever you call 'em).

I bet it was great in a bowl like that.

I make bread bowls in a couple of sizes often. I just use a very simple bread recipe like a fellow would use for French bread or maybe pizza dough.

I like to use ceramic bowls to bake my bread bowls. Very easy to do them in this manner.

The above bowls are made in the smaller ceramic bowls like you see in the picture. I use these for appetizers usually using some type of soup. I cut the center out of each bowl to make my bread bowls.

These are my larger bread bowls baked in my larger ceramic bowls. I have the center cut out of one of these bowls.

The bread bowl contains a Cajun soup.

I use the ceramic bowls idea to keep the bread bowls at the size I want and it works well.

Looks to me like the popover bowls are made and come out of the oven bowl shaped. Here is a video that shows what they look like but doesn't show how to make them. From the recipe I posted it looks to me they just form if you do them in a pie pan or cookie sheet and not conform them to a regular popover pan. Don
