Title: My Favorite BBQ Recipe
Post by: Kona on January 08, 2016, 10:56:59 AM
I found this on another site a long time ago and I haven't looked back. I use this recipe as my base and adjust it to fit my own personal tastes. I've won my office bbq competition in the sauce category with this and I'm always asked to make some by my coworkers, definitely worth it

    1c Ketchup
    2/3c Brown Sugar
    1/2c Beer
    1/2c Soda
1/3c Real Maple Syrup or Molasses
    6oz Tomato Paste
    3 tbs Mustard
    3 tbs Apple Cider Vinegar
    1 tbs Sea Salt
    1 tbs Dry Mustard
    1 tbs Worcestershire Sauce
    1 tbs Garlic Powder
    1 tbs Onion Powder
    2 tsp Thyme
    1 tsp Black Pepper
    1 tsp Paprika
    1/2 tsp Cayenne

2/3c White Sugar
1/4c White Vinegar
1/4c Red Wine Vinegar
1/8c Molasses
1 tbsp. Lemon Juice
1 tbsp. Dijon Mustard

Great contributions Kon! THANKS for the recipes - I am sure many folks will look up from their table, and raise a glass for you. Those have a nice balance of ingredients.

Now I am hungry for some BBQ.  Would love to try both sauces.

I'm curious to try on the first recipe, instead of the maple syrup, to try a Jim Beam Maple substitute to see if it gives a bourbon hint to the taste.

Thanks, Kona! They both look good - bookmarked.

One quick question - the first one - is the 1/2c Soda - Club Soda or something else?

Thanks!

I've always used Coke, but you could also get away with Sprite/7Up. The soda is mainly for the sugar content and thinning of the sauce :)
