Smoking Don you inspired me
My pops is having knee replacement surgery (for the third time) so came home to be here for it, and decided to fix one of his favorites - Beef Tongue

5# tongue
1/2 cup cider vinegar
20 whole peppercorns
4 tbsp salt
6 bay leaves
6 dried chiles

Into slow cooker on low/med for 10 hrs. Tender and tasty. Forgot how good it is.

Good luck to your Dad MB for a speedy recovery! My wife had both of hers done at the same time about 2 years ago. He should enjoy the beef tongue! Don

He's had both done as well. This one was done about 24 yrs ago. Actually squeaks when he walks. Long past the warranty

Hope everything goes well for your dad.
I just can't get my mind warped around that tonge yet. At least displayed that way.

Sorry but that thing is so ugly..wonder who stood there, looked at it and said what if we eat that tongue?  just sayin..enjoy,.  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

I'm fix'n to have both of mine replaced (not together) soon  :( :(

Update on my dad
Just returned from Iowa.  Overall surgery went well.  The crazy story - Doc said, "I've seen where people have worn through the polymer, and I've seen where people have worn into the metal parts and created an indentation.  But I've never seen anyone wear completely through the metal parts like your dad did!" 

All is well now.  Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers
