I would not eat them & they would not eat me.............So far we both have lived up to our contract.
This year marks the 100Th anniversary of the 1916 NJ shark attacks. I plan to visit each site on the day & hour of the attacks to go for a swim & say a prayer for each person that died or was attacked. People ask me why & I say I am not sure why. It has been something I have wanted to do for years & I am not getting younger & it is the 100Th year. The dates are July 1, 6 & 12Th.
In twelve days during that July five people were attacked & four died in four locations. Why who knows but in the 100 years since no one has been killed in NJ waters by a shark. Was it a white? was it a Bull? was it a few sharks or just one shark.????

As the video says up until that day most experts thought a shark would not attack a man in our waters.
A reporter told me in two weeks that they will let the public know information that has been locked up for many years. This info should change what people have thought about these attacks for years.

A little bit of Jersey Shore history I did not know. If I don't work on the 1st I might head on over. Furthest north I have been at the shore is Brigantine. Might be worth it to check out LBI

Sharks are only dangerest when their hungry or if you look like a seal. Could never figure out why wet suits are black (seal color). I have dove with sharks many times. No sudden movements and don't act distressed and you will be fine. It's scary when they knock you off a surfboard. Only happen twice to me surfing in Santa Cruz and Hawaii.

Thanks! I hope to have a partner but I will bring a VHF with GPS auto send & a Life preserver belt. If for whatever reason there were sharks known to be in the area that day I will do my prayers & put flowers in from the beach. I am not planning to be on their menu...I wonder if they would post pictures on shark facebook ??? ??? ;D ;D ;)

We used to keep Adolph's Meat Tenderizer on the Boat - in the event someone got stuck by an Urchin - or a jellyfish sting....But, in this case - I recommend NOT having it - or steak sauce - on your weight belt.... ;D 8) ;)

It is funny in my days of diving I worried more about Jelly fish then I did about sharks.

My closest call was with a BIG Barracuda....He flashed me - and snatched at a new shiny gold chain around my neck. I was young and stupid ( well...I am not young anymore... ;D ) and forgot to remove to before going to to gin-clear water off the Tortugas.
My uncle said - while shaking his head in disappointment at my sloppy pre-dive prep..."Well - it's a good thing the 'Cuda had a good aim, or you you would be a stiff - and riding back with home with a slit in your throat."
I traded the gold chain for a Puka shell necklace..... :D :D :D

LOL now but not then.......If my memory serves me right the Barracuda does see well from 1 to six feet & over 20 feet but not as well in between. Never liked them up close ??? ???
