Title: Score : New Cooker 2 ; LostArrow 0
Post by: LostArrow on February 17, 2013, 07:16:54 PM
Got my new cooker home yesterday & on the deck.
Fired it up this afternoon , no cook just charcoal.
Temp peaked around 450F with ALL vents closed  ???
Back to drawing board, fixed two  air leaks , one with flexible fridge magnets & 2nd with a washer & bending a door.
Second fire better, temp peaked at 325F  but no cigar  :-[
Used Permatex high temp gasket material to cut down on leak from section 2 to 3, it's curing , next try tomorrow!
Kinda sad I've got all this stuff around the house & it's all been used on cookers before  :-\

LA, I have used two Weber charcoal trays in the bottom of the CI Chicken Cooker and was able to keep the barrel running at 250 degrees. I just added  -8- briquettes every hour and that sucker purred...................or you could make a small charcoal basket but those Weber charcoal trays are sweet and work great.
