Post by: nepas on July 31, 2013, 06:46:16 PM
Well after many recon missions there is no sign of my WeberQ.

So today i went grill shopping.

Here are my choices.

Char-Broil Grill2go x200  ($135)
O-Grill ($140)
Weber Q120 ($180)
Holland Companion ($249)
PTG ($299)
Cuisinart Tabletop ($100)
Disk-It Grill ($275)

Special Thanks to TMB and Pam for info on the CB.

Ditto.  And some lag bolts to screw it down to something large and unwieldy.  Or rivets..

I have the original CB G2G. I have used it for 2 or 3 years and it works well. On the other hand - the build quality is shabby. Almost everything that moves or lifts has broken. It is no longer useful as a portable grill unless I carry the whole thing to  and from the car. It is a pain in the A@@ as a portable grill. However, as a quick grill for a quick evening's cook - it is hard to beat! I use it several times a week - on the front porch - 10 feet from where it lives in the garage! lol!

I have a disk-it pan (not the whole set-up.) I like using this on a variety of grills - gas burner, charcoal, wood, etc. I lean to wood / charcoal, so will not be buying another propane in the near future. The only propane I use anymore is the G2G - it is fast and easy or the MPC to use the disk or some other cool tools.

If I had to buy again to replace the G2G, I might look at the new version - but I'd need some serious reassurance re: build quality. Otherwise, I'd likely pick the Weber. No doubts in my mind re: build quality and support. I'd also consider just sticking with my charcoal and wood burners.

Good luck!

Here is the grill Rick was looking at. Pam has one and loves it!

It's the new Grill2Go x200

By the way Dick's sporting goods has them for 129.00

You know my admiration for the design of the weber Q series.
If you can afford get a 120 or 220.

For me the build quality of the Weber overwhelms anything Char-Broil produces. I'm looking at a Table Top Gasser for work and it's just a matter of which "Q" series do I need.

I am getting rid of everything to make room for my Yoder charcoal pit but the Weber Q stays

My youngest son grabbed it when he moved to the high desert.......I was a little mad, yet impressed with his good taste... ;)
