I ran across this little gem tonight - it appears to be sold out, but appears to be a solid unit

That looks pretty interesting. A nice price and good looking. I imagine you could use different pellets to add some interesting flavors to the pizzas. It looks like it could be used to make some interesting flat breads as well.
Actually, if you are a Dr. Who fan, you might notice that the side view looks a lot like K-9, the mechanical dog that Dr. Who built for Sarah Jane Smith. ;) :D
I signed up for their newsletter, will be looking for more info. Thanks for the post, pz!

That is very interesting. A pellet fueled pizza oven. It looks like it's gravity fed with a convection fan in the rear.

BBQ'rs Delight makes a savory herb pellet blend that makes absolutely incredible pizza. When using them your whole yard smells like a pizzeria.
And yes, it does kind of remind me of K-9. :) Hey, do you suppose the pizza oven is bigger on the inside? ;)
-
I don't think it's sold out. It let me put one in my shopping cart. The pizza peel is sold out but not the oven.
-
... Hey, do you suppose the pizza oven is bigger on the inside? ;)
;D ;D ;D

It is difficult to believe that it makes good pizza, but the video makes it look good - less than 4 minutes to bake a pie. I wish he would have shown a money shot - close enough for us to see the deliciousness. ;D

I don't know - granted I am usually a sucker for new stuff (cooking or otherwise) I have a whole room full of new stuff. But a wood fired oven is "simply" a device that allows for heating the floor of the oven as well as the top of the dome. This allows the pizza to cook quickly and evenly (although you may have to spin the pizza to keep it even.) Looking at the video (and if you go to the You Tube video that pz referenced and look for the original video of the prototype...) you'll see that the "fire" seems to wrap around the pizza. He also shows a bit of a money shot. I think it could work. Maybe this IS the "It's bigger on the inside" part of it... ;) ;D ;D

You and me both, my friend! ;D
I'll need to look for more YouTube videos, because this is definitely something that I'd have interest in - the masonry oven does not work that well during the cold/wet of winter. Sure, you can bake pizza, but it is just not the same.
Is this the video to which you are referring? This one does show a great pizza with a very crisp crust - quite the money shot.

Here is the uuni Kickstarter page - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tapaninaho/uuni-a-small-fast-and-affordable-wood-fired-pizza
They did get their funding goal.

That's great! The video you provided is further evidence that this is a solid unit. Thanks for posting ;)
Even though I have the masonry unit, I might consider this baby for use during winter. Don't get me wrong, I dearly love my masonry unit for use in summer, but it does not work that well when the weather is cold and wet.

Interesting cooker.
-
I checked the price and it is $329 plus $28 to ship to me.
After seeing the interior and how the flame is overlapping the pie I really like it.
A battery powered rotating stone would put it over the top ;)
And it appears to be very portable.
I don't think that it will make too much a difference what flavor pellets you use with that amount of flame however.
And where does it vent?
-
It looks interesting for sure.

Danngit pz! You show me this! ;)
Well I was going to buy the Blackstone pizza oven but I was thinking about where the heck would I put the thing? No room under my patio cover anymore.
So I start watching the videos on this thing and was very impressed with it's simplicity and how it works.
And how portable it is. Runs on a set of batteries for 8 hours.
And it is wood fired with pellets! I got pellets plenty of pellets ;)
Then I see he takes Paypal. Ohhhh! 6 months same-as-cash! Even better!
So I placed my order this morning.
Dang you pz!!!!!!!
-
Also interested but it looks like it could be easily insulated for us northern folks.

I think a welding blanket could take care of that.

lol, sorry muebe; I wasn't thinking anyone would purchase it yet, but it sounds like you did quite a bit of research - I hope it turns out as good as the pizza looks. I'm actually thinking of one myself so I can do pizzas in winter when the masonry oven is not ideal. I too am looking forward to your review!

There is a video that explains how to light it. That video shows how it works.
The pellets are gravity fed. There is no auger or pellet chamber. Just forced air from a fan and flames from the pellets.
There is a removable slide where the pellets travel down into the cooker. Then the chute for the pellets attaches to the top.
When I saw the simplicity of how it works and how the pizzas came out I was sold. The only thing that I can see possibly malfunctioning is the fan.
This morning I had one of those "Why didn't I think of that moments!"
Obviously will do a full review once I get it. Now to learn how to make my own pizza dough ;)

Also a good digital scale the goes to the 2nd decimal place. (0.00)

that guy did make the dough shaping look quite simple but I know its not as I have tried :)
-
And Sous Vide pizza sauce!! :D

Here's another video with a couple of good money shots. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSH_ZmDx1qg
This does look like it makes some good pizza!

That does look like good pizza - in addition to using in the back yard, could take it on RV trips.

Here's a video illustrating how you light the thing and get it ready to fire pizzas

I really like the concept of this pizza oven. I think it has great potential. My comments are about the videos - not the pizza cooker. And my comments apply to many videos beyond these.
Folks who make video need to understand that the audio is even more important than the video. People will watch "bad" video much more than video with bad audio. Wind noise, other noise, varying levels, and poor commentary will send viewers away much faster than dark video, bad colors, etc. In this case the wind noise at the beginning makes it painful to watch.
I always advocate listening to the audio when you take your project in for production. If it is not perfect, consider cutting the audio track and doing a voice over. This lets you say what you wanted to say, get rid of "umms & ahhhs" and cut out bad background or wind noises. It also lets you edit the video to the key scenes and then match your voice over to the action. This is much easier than trying to edit the video, but keep the audio in synch. You can add a music track if you wish (be careful of copyright laws) and it will be much more impactful for the viewer.
Thanks for posting, pz - I am really getting to like this cooker!

That's great advice David, and you're spot on with the audio. Sometimes I'll watch the video with the audio turned off (like I did in a couple of these) simply because it did not add anything to the information presented.
It does look like a great portable unit that you could tuck almost anywhere.
I might have missed it, but did anyone catch what happens to the pellet ash? Does it blow over the pizza out the door?

So there was a slight delay with the shipping of the oven due to problems with the fulfillment company they use. Kristian has been in regular contact with me with updates.
He also added an updated status page on stock levels and other updates...
http://uuni.net/pages/status
I got an email that the oven is shipping today. I really like the service he is providing so far. Quick to respond to emails and questions.
Now for the waiting...
-
Sounds like a decent chap. Looking forward to your impressions!
-
Very interested in seeing this little oven in action.
-
The oven did arrive yesterday but I did not have a chance to even open it yet ???
May have to wait until tomorrow to get a chance to use it. I will start a new thread for it in the next few days....

Gasp..you mean it's just sitting there..OMG..get your pizza dough ready..it's better if it sits over night. Flour, warm water 110º and yeast and sugar..olive oil and granulated garlic and salt. If you let it rise one time then put it in the frig overnight..it will impress you. promise. It freezes well also. Pam .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ
