Bartering for King Salmon
« Reply #-1 on: August 01, 2014, 01:18:38 AM »
While at the fish cleaning station to clean our Dungeness crabs this morning (should be called fish/crab cleaning station) we ran into 3 guys cleaning 6 gorgeous King (Chinook) Salmon.  I jokingly said that we would trade some crabs for some salmon.  We proceeded to clean our crabs when the fisherman, on his own, put a salmon filet on our table.  We in turn gave him 3 large cooked and cleaned crabs  :)  Who says the bartering system is dead?

Marinaded the salmon with some Mr Yashida's Teriyaki and hot smoked it on the GMG Davy Crockett grill.  Man-o-man ... fresh King Salmon is to die for.  Can't wait to catch my first one.  Maybe tomorrow  8)  ... Right now the count is: Crab -> 35 - Salmon -> 0 !!

So moist and delicious ... smoked at 180ºF for an hour then at 250ºF till the IT reached 145ºF

I agree - the barter system is entirely underutilized!  That salmon looks perfect!

Looks like you "caught" some really nice salmon. I have to head to the store for some now - you've inspired me.

Nothin' wrong with that trade at all. Especially seeing how good that salmon looks.
