Sous vide while RV-ing
« Reply #-1 on: August 11, 2014, 01:09:30 AM »
On our recent trip to Winchester Bay to meet up with Smoker Pete, one of the plans was to sous vide boneless ribeye.  I'd do the water bath, and Pete would complete with a sear on the GMG Davy Crockett (my wife is just about ready to get one of those gems)

Ready for the bath - the package on the left contains 2 steaks, and 2 single packages on the right

One nice thing about the Anova is that it is not much larger than a stick blender, and can be used with just about any pot - perfect for RV-ing.  I preheated the water to about 130F on the stove in the rig and then turned on the Anova to keep it there for 2 hours

Here Pete is searing the steaks on the GMG - he got it to 550F

We used two different seasonings, one of which was Pete's tri-tip which was absolutely delicious

Tasty, tasty, tasty!

That looks mighty good!!  Seems like the 125 - 130 degree temp and 2 hours is just the ticket for boneless ribeye steaks.  That's what I have been using at home.  Just think, fancy French-style cooking, on the road!!  Gotta love it!!
