Making some pintos with smoked hock this morning.

Beans rinsed and clean. Boiled for 10 mins then simmer for 2 hours.

Cut some smoked hock up.

Add to beans and simmer for 3 hours. Put the lid on the pot at an angle. Keep a pan of hot water on the stove to add when the bean liquid gets low.

Getting close to done.

Now they done. Time simmering 9 hours. Now in the fridge (better tomorrow) with rice.

Sorry Mom, My beans are better.....SLAP...YIKES  :o

I love some slow cooked beans. I wish I could find some fresh hocks to smoke, I haven't tried adding smoke to the hocks you get at the grocery.

Looks good. I like to make those myself. Fresh beans with smoked hock. Nothing else. Put in a crockpot overnight and put on top of or side of sweet cornbread or as you said, some arroz blanco.

Looks good but isn't that more of a fall winter food? Around here it is anyhow

We never gwt white out conditions int he South Chris...So we have to pretend to have winter whenever we feel like "comfort food". ;D
