Now if you had a group of friends coming over for a steak dinner and all the steaks, Vegtables, etc are in the hot tub and they are expecting a grilled steak and you pull out the blow torch ???

At least it will make for some intresting conversation :D

Looks like a great idea.  I use a pot like the one on the right in the video because I cook mostly for just 1 or 2 couples, but for a larger crowd (or piece of meat), the tub looks great

OK, just back from Home Depot. I picked up a 25' bundle of Reflectix wrap to insulate the sides of the Cambro tub. It's pretty slick. I trimmed 5' of the Reflectix to 8.5" wide. It fits snugly under the lip. The tub sits on a 1" foil-wrapped insulation board cut to size,  so I'm good on the bottom and sides, just gotta figure out how to do the top. This all comes apart easily and the scraps from trimming the 5' of Reflectix can now wrap around my kettle when I use it for smaller cooks with the Anova. To be continued....  8)

Very nice project Gene!
Can you make a slip over cover that just lifts off? Maybe even a double thickness top section? The duct tape that HVAC guys use on the insulated ducting - is a much better grade of tape - if you can get it, and it is silver in color to match the "space suit" on the Anova tub ;)

Yep good idea Tim! That may very well work. I've got some beef shorties in the tub now so I'll give your idea a go on Sunday.  8)

You thinking like a tea coozy? That makes a ton of sense. Sounds like a product idea

The sides are like a tea cozy Pappy, but the top is a little more difficult.  I want it to be easy to disassemble for cleaning.
So far the bottom is just an insulation board cut to size,  the sides are wrapped and held In place by the lip, and I'm going to try Tim's idea of foil-taping the Reflectix to the lid. It's coming along!

How about cutting a hole in the top of this?

I would be tempted to get the correct diameter of steel pipe nipple - and using my trusty MAAP gas torch get it screaming red hot after marking where I want the hole with a sharpie ( place the pipe where the hole is to be, and outline it). Place the lid of the blue bag over a pice of wood...and burn a nice clean hole thru it. Use HVAC grade duct tape to "finish" the edge of the hole... ;)

That looks like it could work and just fill the space with some  type of insulation. And a nice hole as Tim has stated!

Takes care of the bottom too. What space are you referring too?
