It wasn't BBQ but.......
« Reply #-1 on: February 14, 2015, 07:54:07 PM »
....it sure was good.  Tonight I fixed for my bride (of 49 years) spicy jumbo shrimp with garlic browned butter with orange zest sauce served over brown rice.  This was the first time but, hopefully, it won't be the last time I do this.  That garlic browned butter sauce was the bomb.

As long as it's good food, it doesn't have to be BBQ.  Tell us more about how you fixed that meal.

The recipe calls for 2 lbs of shrimp and I only used one lb.  I used dried thyme (1/3 tsp and 1/4 tsp. of chili powder for 1 lb. of shrimp.

Ingredients
•½ cup unsalted butter (your choice of salted/unsalted)
•1 teaspoon fresh thyme
•zest of one orange
•2 teaspoons minced garlic
•2 lbs. raw shrimp
•½ teaspoon chili powder
•salt and pepper to taste
Serves: 8

Instructions
1.Heat the butter in a medium skillet over low heat. When the butter is melted, add the thyme leaves. Stir and simmer, keeping the heat low (it burns easily), for 5 minutes or until the butter reaches a golden brown color. Remove from heat and stir in the zest. Pour the butter into a small bowl and let it rest for a few minutes.
2.In the same skillet, with a light coating of the butter remaining, add the garlic and sautee for 1 minute. Add the raw shrimp and the chili powder; shake or toss in the pan for 3-5 minutes or until the shrimp is no longer translucent. Serve with the butter and pasta, grains, rice, or a salad.

It doesn't always have to be BBQ. But when it isn't, that shrimp will do the trick.

Thanks for the recipe :)
