Sunday Cooking
« Reply #-1 on: February 15, 2015, 10:53:46 PM »
Getting a cold spell (at least for us) so I thought I would stay inside and make a batch of pasta sauce (or gravy if you prefer) since I was running low.
Here is a class picture (the roasted peppers and garlic were late and didn't make the picture.

First step was to slice the tomatoes, onions, and garlic and roast them for about 35 minutes.
Ready for the oven

All done.

In the jars, pressure canned and ready to store in the pantry. Made 12 pints.

While it was simmering for 5-6 hours, made a pizza for dinner.

Why couldn't Noah have swatted the 2 mosquitoes?.

From the ingredients in the class picture, I would say you have a very wonderful sauce/gravy there and a super pizza to boot.  I'm not one who cans but shouldn't those lids be sucked down?  My wife cans food and when hers don't get sucked down the air turns blue.

The picture was taken right after I removed them from the pressure canner. As they cool down they will "pop" as the lid is sucked down.

Gotcha.  Thanks, Gus.  I was looking at the class picture and the finished product and thinking that this epitomises "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts."
