Beans, beans, they're musical fruit . . .
« Reply #-1 on: June 23, 2015, 06:06:10 PM »
I saved the bone (and some attached meat) from our Easter ham in the freezer. Today, as I'm sitting around waiting for the medicine to kick in, I boiled that sucker up with some navy beans.  Now, I've got a pot of ham and bean soup to accompany whatever I might choose to burn in the back yard.  Nothing could be easier and no recipe is needed.  The house smells wonderful.  Just in case you need the recipe:

Ham bone (leave some meat on it)
Dried navy beans (soak in water overnight -- this isn't fast food)
Water (must bring to a boil -- we all know what fish do in water)
Pinch of salt
Boil until beans are tender and meat comes off bone (about 2 hours)
Discard bone

Makes a meal when combined with cornbread or a side dish with anything else.

Sounds mighty tasty to me Hub! As a matter of fact, yesterday I was rummaging through the freezer and found the bone from our Easter ham. Thoughts ran to ham and bean soup with greens and corn bread!  I can smell your concoction over here Hub.  Mmmmm bean gravy!!! :D :D :D

Now THAT is the appropriate response to this post.  Don't ever say "How about some more beans Mr. Tee"!!  He is bad enough without beans.
