Plan for Sunday
« Reply #-1 on: August 29, 2015, 10:35:30 PM »
I wanted to put some habanero powder in a sauce I am experimenting with, so decided to make my own powder.
I don't have a dehydrator so I'll use my Bradley. Got some advice from Tommy (thanks), bought some peppers, and I'm ready to go.
Since I am doing this anyway, might as well make it worthwhile so I bought a few different peppers.
Starting in the lower left and going clockwise: poblano, jalapeno, long hot peppers, orange scotch bonnet habanero, red hot peppers.

I set up the Bradley tonight and will get up early and start the show. More to come.
Why couldn't Noah have swatted the 2 mosquitoes?.

I have no idea if it will be an issue but do you think there's a chance that the flavors of the different peppers will meld if they're dehydrated all together?

Bradley is outside in a covered cabinet. Taking everyone's advice, I have a separate grinder, mask, gloves, fan, and an outdoor table to work on.

I woke up early and put the peppers in the Bradley about 6:30 am (then went back to bed)

Peppers in the Bradley:

Some of them started being done after about 6-7 hours. The habanero and long hot peppers were done first. Total they took about 8 hours before all of these were done. The others are still in there after 13 hours.
I didn't get pictures of the dried habanero or the long hots, but here is a pic of some of the jalapeno and poblano peppers that were done early.

So I decided to grind the habs and the long hots.
All geared up and ready to go. Going to do it outside on the deck.

The ground up peppers.

The new plan is to leave the other peppers in the Bradley until they are done, then bag them and grind tomorrow.

Why couldn't Noah have swatted the 2 mosquitoes?.

They look great Gus.  Lot of work for a small amount of powder is it not?   But will say it's worth the effort
