Sauces at The American Royal
« Reply #-1 on: September 20, 2015, 09:56:19 AM »
Yesterday I was one of 36 Judges for the AR Sauce Competition.  There was a record 395 sauces entered.  We tasted Tomato based, Vinegar based, Mustard based and Hot categories.  I lost track but believe I personally tasted over 60 different sauces.

Overall the sauces were very good.  There were several that just knocked your socks off good and only one or two that were pretty bad.  The most interesting one included chocolate....very nice after taste.

As always was fun and met some very nice people with the same interests.  BTW this was held at Kemper Arena but the meat competition will be at Arrowhead Stadium.  I am judging Open Meats on October 4th and will post a report and try to get some pics this time

You must have been having some fun with all those sauces.  The one with the chocolate intrigues me.  I use Baker's Bittersweet Chocolate when I make my elk chili.
