It's Soup Time
« Reply #-1 on: December 27, 2015, 08:27:23 PM »
I confess, I really like soup. Sure, this time of year (in Minnesota) it seems to make sense - but I like soup year round. Pappy, you may remember The Good Earth restaurant - a "health food place." They had some really good soup. Finding good soup restaurants seems to be getting more and more difficult. So, I have resolved to make my own. Many of you have posted recipes here and I have either printed them, bookmarked them, or made them - thank you!

I am starting my soup journey tonight very simply with a homemade tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich - a classic. Not sure why the picture colors came out the way they did - tried to look at them in PS, but no luck. Anyway, the stuff that looks green is actually a small drizzle of EVOO and a few dollops of heavy cream to finish the soup.

A nice way to end a cold winter day.

Not sure if they are or not - I don't get down south much anymore...  ;) ;D

I am making a list of soups / stews for this winter - going to do some tried and true and some new things... tomorrow is a copycat version of Olive Garden's Pasta e Fagioli and a "chili soup" to put up for a couple of days... I am definitely in a tomato based soup / stew mood right now (which is good as SWMBO is at the lake - she doesn't like tomato...  ??? ???)

Will be making some homemade bread & crackers to go with the soups & stews...

Might not have time to shovel... oh well... priorities...  ;) ;D

Spent many of nights at the Good Earth in Roseville during the college days.  Loved their tea.
My wife has a knock off of Olive Garden's Zuppa Toscana.  I'll see if i can squeeze it out of her.
