Miss Laura's Split Pea Soup

Miss Laura is a temptress.  She started the split pea soup in the crock-pot this morning @ 6am.  Six hours later & the aroma is making me crazy-go-nuts!  Supper is at 6pm....

Is that a ham hock floatin in the middle?  That should be pretty good come supper time.
Note: the picture on my phone is about 1" x 1" so hard to see whatsa floatin in that stew pot ;)

Indeed it is...we'll remove those when she gets home about 5 - pick off the meat and do some other things like remove the cloves - then puree and add the picked ham meat back in!  oh joy oh joy oh joy!  Those ham hocks are smokey good!!!!

Smoke - after 81 days straight with no rain and temps in the 70's or higher for most of those - it began to sprinkle on Friday, rain a bit on Sunday and today it is once more the Pacific NW with  full-on rain and temps in the high-40's-to-mid-50's.  sigh...time to go aloha!!!
