2016 Ohio Buckeye Gathering - Dates, Location, etc.

Just a couple weeks ago I found out that the Mohican River Inn (where we held the gathering last year) will not be open at all this season.  Finding a location to host a gathering can be quite a task, so after scrambling to check other locations (pricing, availability, etc.), and talking with some of the folks who came last year,  I have found what I believe is the best option.

Where? This year the gathering will be held at the Butler-Mohican KOA Campground, near Butler, Ohio.  And NO, you will NOT have to tent camp (unless you want to)!  They have graciously reserved a group of Camper Cabins for our use, and at a discounted price too!  We just need to get our reservations in place by the end of March.

This is a highly rated campground with a lot of amenities, including a pavilion we can use if needed. This will actually make the trip a little more affordable for some.  The ONLY downside is that the cabins do not have private restroom facilities. Restrooms and showers are located in the main building, which is very close to the cabins, and are kept very clean.

When? June 3rd, 4th & 5th
I will be arriving on Thursday and will most likely stay until Monday.

Here are some details:

Reservation Info & Rates
IMPORTANT: Because this is a group gathering, and they are offering a discount, DO NOT  make your reservations online!
Instead, Bev, the owner has asked that we send her an email at: camp@butlermohicankoa.com. Be sure to mention the Let's Talk BBQ Gathering, leave your phone number, and she will call you!  She is a very nice lady, and usually very prompt at calling you back!

She is holding these cabins for us to give us first shot at them until the end of March, so DON'T wait too long!

Rates:
These are the REGULAR rates, BUT provided we have a group staying, we will receive at least 10% off of these rates!

1 room cabin:
$64/night weekends (Fri/Sat)
$57/night Weeknights (Sun-Thu)

2 Room Cabin:
$74/night weekends (Fri/Sat)
$67/night Weeknights (Sun-Thu)

For those who have a camper:
Camper - Full hookup:
$48/night weekends (Fri/Sat)
$43/night Weeknights (Sun-Thu)

They also have available a fully furnished 36ft travel trailer with its own shower/bathroom, AC & Direct TV, set up on a deluxe site, for around $110 per night - This will go quickly I suspect!

A couple days ago, Bev, the Camp Owner, took the time to take and send me some pics:

Here is the office & store. The shower/restrooms are on the right-hand side.  As you can see they are very nice.

Here are a couple shots of the cabin area they have set aside for us.
In the first picture (upper left-hand side), you can see the office & store is only about 100 feet or so away, so the restroom/showers are very close  by.

The cabins are very nice. The cabins are equipped with electricity, a porch swing, picnic table, grill, fire ring & water.

Inside, the 1-room cabins (sleeps 4) have a double bed and a set of bunk beds.  The two-room cabins (sleeps 6) have a double bed, and a second room with two sets of bunk beds.  You need to bring your own linens/pillows.

More pictures are available on both their website and the KOA website.

Sounds like a good time, but I would have to get my passport renewed.

Art,  Not a problem!  I fully understand that even "Fancy Pants Camping" is still not for everyone. I'm just glad you guys are coming!

I will tell you that you guys are in for a swanky experience at Landoll's Mohican Castle! We have seen it and it is nice!  Tammy wants me to take her there sometime (maybe for our next anniversary).

Old Dave:
We have reserved camping cabin C6 for Thursday Friday and Saturday and should arrive about noon on Thursday.

We have another couple coming with us and they have a truck camper and I will get their site number as soon as they get their reservations.

Dave, Jan, and no Barney this year...

We lost our little dog Barney the week after Christmas as we had to put him down due to a back problem.
