I have another type of option for a hitch for a cooker and have used it for several years at KCBS contests.



This is my Backwoods Fatboy all loaded up on my "swing out" large cargo carrier.



When I get to an event, I just swing out the carrier and fire up the cooker when it is needed. With the swing out feature, I can now get into the back of the SUV to get to all my cooking accessories or needs.

Dave we think too much alike..I have one of those also..it's so handy..hubby said what did you buy that for? he uses it more than I do..geezzz, ya just can't win sometimes.  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

  Did you have to install air shocks to help with the weight? Or is the smoker lighter than it looks?

The Backwoods on that cargo carrier weighed 270 pounds and was a handful on the back of that medium sized SUV. I had to be careful driving but did ok with it. Probably would have been better with some air shocks or something to help with the load. I also used it for carrying a couple of WSM's and a cooler and with that load, I didn't even know it was there.

Dave not a mak but my best tailgating grill has a swing hitch & lock.. I just pull into a stadium swing it out put a 1lbs on & I am cooking in minutes. It is the best way to tailgate saves so much room in the SUV.  I can carry my griddle inside the grill.

I have since gone to a cargo carrier I transport the MAK  with. I am experimenting with a wheelchair lift. But need to make some mods to it

Michigan0626--that is a very cool idea you have! Thanks for sharing it with the MAK group on this forum. Could you share what your total out of pocket was?  And what brand/size of casters did you put on your MAK.

It was simply a YouTube video I found from 2010. There is no attached information about it. And that channel hasn't posted anything in years.  It would be cool to find out how it did it to replicate it.  Because, unless I buy a trailer, its going to be too much of a pain in the butt to try and load and unload from the truck bed each time. With this, I wouldn't have to wait for the wife, or inconvenience anyone else.
