Grilled Nectarines or peaches
« Reply #-1 on: July 11, 2018, 11:49:03 AM »
Summer is fresh fruit time! We’re fortunate to live in a state which grows a great number of fruits and vegetables. This week, let’s have some fun with Nectarines! Also known as “bald peaches”, this fruit can be interchanged with peaches in any recipe.

Grilled Nectarines
Serves: 4-6

Ingredients:
4-6 fresh, medium-sized nectarines
Pound cake
Vanilla ice cream

Preparation:
Wash and halve the nectarines. Discard the pit. Remove pound cake from package and slice into two inch thick planks.

Cooking:
Start your MAK and adjust temperature to between 400-450F. Allow grill to reach temperature. (For units with the FlameZone® feature, remove one or both covers).
Place nectarines flat side down and grill for approximately 4 minutes. Turn over and grill an additional 4 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Put pound cake on grill and toast each side, approximately 30 seconds. Remove once toasted.

Place pound cake in a bowl, add nectarine halves and then a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy one of the fruits of summer in a delicious new way.

Man, that looks and sounds fantastic, Bruce! It may sound funny, but living in Alaska, I lust for fresh, tree ripened fruit like that, the way landlocked folks lust for fresh seafood, like our salmon!

I would chow down on that fruit until I was sick!

We have some great local peaches here in Washington State.  I frequently grill them when they are in-season.  I like to sprinkle a sugar/cinnamon mix on them while they grill and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  It is like fresh, hot peach pie without the crust.  LOVE IT
